THE SHAPES IN THE SKY
The First Reports
The first reports came in just after dusk. In the clear December night sky above Morris County, New Jersey, residents began noticing strange, glowing geometries. At first, they seemed like ordinary drones—small, hovering lights darting back and forth in an eerie silence. But as more people turned their eyes skyward, it became clear that these were no mere drones. Their movements were too precise, their formations too intricate. Triangles, hexagons, and spirals danced in the air, illuminated by an unearthly glow.
Social Media Speculation
“Planes or UFOs?” read the headline of the Daily Ledger. Speculation swirled across social media, where shaky smartphone footage of the lights quickly went viral. Within hours, hashtags like #NJShapes and #SkyMystery dominated the trending charts.
Clara Reed Investigates
Clara Reed, a local investigative journalist for the Morris County Times, initially dismissed the reports as a hoax. She had seen too many drone-related pranks in her career to take it seriously. But when a neighbor knocked on her door, insisting she look out her window, Clara’s skepticism wavered. There they were—glowing shapes, hovering soundlessly in the sky.
Grabbing her camera and notebook, Clara rushed outside, joining a crowd of neighbors gathered in the street. Someone shouted, “Look! They’re changing formation!” The shapes, now a cluster of pulsating triangles, began to rotate and merge into a single, massive hexagon. Clara’s fingers trembled as she captured the scene. It wasn’t just the lights that unsettled her; it was the stillness. Even the usual background noise of crickets and distant car engines seemed to have vanished.
National Attention
By morning, the phenomenon had reached the national news. The New York Times ran a front-page story: “Drones, Planes, or Something Else? New Jersey Residents Abuzz Over Mystery Lights.” Meanwhile, federal agencies scrambled for answers. The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security launched investigations, and the Federal Aviation Administration issued temporary flight restrictions over the affected areas.
“It's probably nothing,” an FAA spokesperson said in a press conference. “Most of these sightings can be attributed to lawful manned aircraft or misidentified objects.” But the residents of Morris County weren’t convinced. The shapes moved in ways that defied conventional aircraft technology. Witnesses described them as “impossibly fluid” and “eerily intelligent.”
A Deeper Investigation
Clara’s instincts told her there was more to the story. She began digging into the reports, interviewing witnesses and cross-referencing their accounts. One detail stood out: whenever the shapes appeared, radio signals in the area were disrupted. Local stations picked up bursts of static and strange tones, a pattern Clara found too consistent to ignore.
She reached out to a friend at a nearby university, Dr. Ravi Shah, an astrophysicist with a penchant for the unexplained. Over coffee, she showed him the footage and described the radio interference.
“These shapes aren’t random,” Ravi said, his brow furrowed. “Look at the formations. They’re mathematical. Almost like... a language.”
Clara’s pulse quickened. “You think they’re trying to communicate?”
“Possibly,” Ravi replied. “But with who? And why now?”
The Return of the Shapes
That night, Clara set up a small observation post in a park overlooking the town. Armed with her camera, a notepad, and a portable radio, she waited. Hours passed, and just as she began to lose hope, the shapes returned.
This time, they moved closer.
As they hovered over the town, their lights intensified, casting an otherworldly glow across the treetops. Clara’s radio crackled to life, emitting a sequence of tones and static. She recorded everything, her heart pounding. Then, for a brief moment, the shapes paused, as if they were watching her.
“Prepare,” a voice whispered through the static.
Clara froze. Had she imagined it? The word echoed in her mind as the shapes dissolved into the night sky.
The Aftermath
By morning, the town was in chaos. More sightings were reported, and conspiracy theories ran rampant. Some claimed the shapes were part of a government experiment; others pointed to “Project Blue Beam,” a wild theory suggesting the lights were part of a staged alien invasion to enforce a new world order.
Clara didn’t have answers—only questions. But she knew one thing: the shapes were not random, and their message was clear.
“Prepare,” she whispered to herself, staring at the footage on her laptop. “But for what?”

No way! This is so freaking realistic, it’s like what’s happening in the world right now. I really hope this stays in fiction and doesn’t turn into reality... 😳
